Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryVERLA CAUMARTIN (nee SMITH) Verla Caumartin of Summerland passed away with her family by her side on March 7, 2004 at the age of 52. She is lovingly remembered and sadly missed by her husband Leo Caumartin; children, Christine Caumartin of Summerland, BC and Neil Caumartin of Summerland; brothers and sisters, Vivian (Gerry) Delaurier of Summerland, Debbie (Jim) Haslam of Oakbank, MB, Annette (Reg) of Winnipeg, MB, Lorraine (Jim) McNern of Victoria, BC, Neil (Carol) Smith of Burlington, ON, Ron (Carol) Smith of Pickering, ON, Bernice Smith of Winnipeg, Gerald Smith of Locust Hill, ON and Leonard Smith of Locust Hill. Verla was sadly predeceased by her parents, Woodrow and Marie Smith and brother Lionel. Verla was born in Laurier, MB June 2, 1951 to a large family. She married Leo in 1969 and moved to Thompson, MB. In 1986, they moved to Summerland and bought Martin Cleaners. In September 2003, she realized her dream of driving across Canada and together with her two sisters, travelled for a month to the east coast in a motor home. She loved her 19 nephews, 10 nieces, gardening, crib, and most recently scrabble. The family would like to thank the Moog and Friends Hospice House for their incredible support and compassion. A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Wednesday, March 10 at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Child Catholic Church, 14010 Rosedale Ave., Summerland, BC with Fr. Sebastian Puthenpura officiating. Donations may be made in Verlas memory to Moog and Friends Hospice House, 1701 Government St., Penticton, BC V2A 8J7 and/or Canadian Cancer Society, Box 174, Summerland, BC V0H 1Z0.
